Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Exploded Things is a website of short animated videos, run by Harrison Kaiser (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the website at explodedthings.com collects when you use it, why, and for how long. The short version: we don’t use cookies or tracking identifiers, we don’t know who you are, and we don’t sell or share information about you.
What we collect
To learn which videos are useful and what people are looking for, the website records anonymous events. Each one says what happened, never who did it:
- that a page or a video page was viewed;
- that a video was played, how far into it playback reached (a quarter, half, three quarters, the end), and how many seconds were watched;
- that a chapter was chosen;
- that a search was made and how many videos it found;
- that a link to one of our social media profiles was clicked, and where on the page it was.
These events carry no name, account, cookie, device identifier, IP address or browser details. We can’t link one event to another, to a visit, or to you.
Searches that find nothing. When a search finds no video, we keep its text so we know what to make next. Before it is stored we remove anything that looks like an email address, a web address or a phone or other long number, and shorten it to 100 characters. Please don’t type personal information into the search box.
Searching by meaning. To find videos by what you mean, not only the words you use, the text of your search is sent to our server and turned into a numerical representation by Cloudflare’s Workers AI service. The result may be cached by Cloudflare for up to one day so a repeated search is faster. It is not used for anything else.
Visits and page speed (Cloudflare Web Analytics). To see how many people visit, which pages they open, which website or app they came from, which country and kind of browser they use, and how quickly pages load, we useCloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare adds a small script to each page that reports these measurements to Cloudflare. Cloudflare says it uses no cookies or other storage on your device for this, doesn’t fingerprint or follow visitors over time, and discards your IP address at its nearest data center instead of storing it. We see only totals in Cloudflare’s dashboard. Cloudflare keeps detailed data for 7 days and summarised data after that.
What we don’t do
- We don’t use cookies for analytics or advertising, and we don’t use advertising networks, social media plugins or trackers that follow you across websites.
- We don’t sell, rent or share personal information, and we don’t use it for targeted advertising.
- We don’t ask for your name, email address or any account to watch the videos.
- Fonts, videos and our own scripts are served from our own site. The only outside script is Cloudflare Web Analytics, described above.
Your choices
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, the website records none of our own anonymous events for you. Cloudflare Web Analytics is added by Cloudflare and doesn’t read these signals; to stop it, block static.cloudflareinsights.com or scripts in your browser (most content blockers do this). The videos’ pages still show their titles, descriptions and chapters without scripts.
If you choose light or dark mode, your browser remembers that choice in its own local storage so the site looks the same next time. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
How long we keep it
- Anonymous events are held by Cloudflare for up to three months. We copy daily totals (for example “12 plays of this video on this day”) to our own records and may keep those totals indefinitely; they contain nothing about any person.
- The text of searches that found nothing is deleted from our records after 90 days, and from Cloudflare within three months.
Hosting and service providers
The website runs on Cloudflare, which delivers its pages and videos and stores the anonymous events for us. Like any network service, Cloudflare necessarily handles your IP address and similar technical information to deliver the site and protect it from attacks, and may set strictly necessary security cookies. That processing is governed byCloudflare’s privacy policy. We don’t receive or keep IP addresses ourselves: to limit abuse, the site counts requests against a value derived from the address that changes every day and is never stored.
Other websites
Our videos are also on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, and the website links to our profiles there and to the sources behind each video. When you follow those links, the other website’s own privacy policy applies.
Children
The website is a general-audience educational site. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information about you, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Because the website doesn’t collect information that identifies you, we usually have nothing to look up, and we never sell or share personal information. If you have a question or a request, write to us and we will answer.
Changes
If we change what the website collects, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
